Apple takes a bite out of Mira

No-one likes to lose, but if you going to do so, it might as well be to acknowledged design pioneers Apple. At the recent Design Week Awards, the innovative 360 Showerhead from Mira was a runner up to the ionic iPod in the Consumer Product Design category.

The awards celebrate and reward the very best in design, from consumer products and retail interiors through to packaging and print. Mira was delighted to have been a finalist, and, although it would have been nice to have won – and Mira should have (!) – Jonathan Ive, the man behind the iPod, is always a hard act to beat...

The 360 showerhead delivers four spray modes that the user chooses just by flipping the head through four quarter-turns of 900 each. Each quarter-turn ‘flip’ changes the spray pattern: so users can enjoy the ‘rain’, be invigorated by the ‘burst’, get drenched by the ‘storm’ and luxuriate in the ‘cloud’.

Flipstream technology uses a diverter mechanism in the head to vary the spray pattern according to its position. Simply rotating the head about its axis instantly changes the water flow from one spray pattern to the next. The range is available in three different design models – the 360m, the 360r and 360i – all of which can be used with any system and all pressures, giving the user the opportunity to transform and revitalise their showering.
