Mira Showers wins top award for installer ‘vodcast’

Mira Showers has won the industry’s most prestigious marketing award for its pioneering use of new and traditional media. The Construction Marketing Awards 2010 awarded Mira the top prize for Best Use of Public Relations for its Grasping Part G ‘video podcast’ (vodcast); designed to inform ‘white van man’ professional installers about last year’s changes to Part G of the Building Regulations.
Called “an inspired initiative” by the judges, Grasping Part G – developed by Mira’s PR agency Facta – features personalities well known to the trade such as Chris Pateman, managing director of Builders Merchants Federation; Yvonne Orgill, chief executive of BMA and Roy Minett of Mira and chairman of the Thermostatic Mixing Valve Manufacturers Association.

The judges picked out the high accessibility of the vodcasts, commenting on “the number of channels through which the target contractor audience could access the information – capitalising on the rapidly changing media landscape.” This was a result of Mira and Facta promoting the material in print and making it available through Mira’s Web site, on iTunes and on DVD.
The judges were impressed not only by the innovative use of new technology but its value for money in connecting with its audience, describing it as “phenomenally successful in terms of coverage, comparative costing against other media options and RoI against budget.”
The award also demonstrates Mira Showers’ commitment to investing in new technology to deliver the best service to its clients and customers – in this case an entertaining, but informative, update on the latest regulations.
Now in their tenth year, the Construction Marketing Awards are globally recognised as a mark of excellence in construction marketing and business development; and recognise the creativity and innovation within the marketing field.
